Thank you for your interest in fertilizer and weed control applications by American Landscapes. We would love the opportunity to earn your business. Our typical customer stays a customer for many years. We are a professional turf care company, not a professional marketing company. Green turf and happy repeat customers is our goal. Here are few reasons why customers all over Cincinnati love us…
- All service programs are based on solid University research. We regularly communicate with Ohio State’s Turf program to learn about and implement new and better weed control products, insecticides, and fertilizing techniques.
- We realize that more is not always better. Often less fertilizer is actually better for your lawn. All programs are based on Ohio State University recommendations.
- If the summer months are hot and dry and your turf is not irrigated we often skip the summer application. We understand it is not wise to apply fertilizer on dormant turf.
- Our client load is much smaller than the national companies allowing us to apply treatments at exactly the right time.
- We take time to actually look at the lawn and recommend seeding when necessary
- We apply double pre-emergent applications in spring. To us it makes since to apply two applications of pre-emergent to extend crabgrass control. Sure it costs us a little bit more but we think it’s worth it to have happy customers and very little crabgrass.
- Our programs are environmentally friendly. We do not apply unneeded or unnecessary chemicals just to bill for extra services. When insecticides are needed we offer the customer effective, environmentally friendly alternatives at reasonable prices.
- Affordable grub control. It has become a trend in the industry to charge a low rate for basic applications but then charge an exorbitantly high rate for add-ons like grub control and aeration. Our prices for all services are reasonable and fair.
- Nutsedge treatments are included at no charge with our full program
- Spot spraying broadleaf weeds is included with every step (weather permitting).
- No Telemarketing or annoying phone calls pushing unnecessary services.
- Our pricing is very competitive. Often customers initially think our per application price is higher than others but when you factor in our number of applications, everything we include, and the fact we don’t upsell products you don’t need we are usually less expensive than our competitors.
- Our applicators are highly trained and NOT required to invoice a certain amount each day to avoid termination.
- Our focus is on customer retention not new sales numbers. Once you are our customer – we want to keep you our customer!
- When we provide your mowing services we are able to time applications to correspond with your lawn’s mowing schedule. Our mowing crews will be able to help monitor your lawn and you’ll have fewer checks to write.
Our normal program is five steps from approximately March—November.
Step One (March—April): Helps the lawn green and recover from winter stress. Weed control and crabgrass preventative are applied at this step.
Step Two (May—June): Existing weeds are targeted heavily on this visit. Fertilizers will promote lawn density and color. Most lawns receive a second round of pre-emergent herbicide to further reduce the likelihood of crabgrass and other weeds.
Step Three (July-August): Additional application of low Nitrogen slow release fertilizer, Potassium, and Iron to help your lawn stay green and thrive during the hot summer months.
Grub Control is applied at this step if necessary, at an additional rate (to be approved by customer).
Step Four (September-October):The first of two crucial fall treatments to promote fall & winter color, disease prevention, root development, & strong spring growth.
Step Five: (November—December): The second high nitrogen treatment to prepare the lawn for the long winter and get it ready for spring.
All steps include, at no additional charge, spot treatment of weeds as necessary. If the spring season is especially wet, crabgrass may require an additional liquid treatment at an additional charge. Customer will be informed of all additional charges before work begins. Remember, some weeds cannot be selectively controlled or may require several treatments.
